I know spiked is kind of tired of me harassing him about running a SH server at lan. So help me harass him.
If you have no heard about Shattered Horizon is a space based FPS, so you have a full 3D space to play and manage. The game is only DX10, only vista and win7, so you have to have semi-current gear. It is only 20$ on steam. I really enjoy playing this game because I am good at it and its crazy having a fire fight with 3 guys across 3-axis, most of the time you simply die.
The other big thing that is happening with SH is that they are releasing a patch soon with new weapons and some other stuff. Be warned there is a learning curve because of the controls for space flight but it is not extremely difficult or time consuming. I would love to see some people playing it at LANs. Questions comments shoot away. I will be at the next PLR, I think, so feel free to force me to play it for you or give you a chance to die in space.

Spiked Rule #1:
he forgets alot and has alot on his plate to balance, do not be afraid to harrass or repeatedly 'remind' of something... he is gauranteed to forget and will not bash you for reminding unless you are extra deserving of said bashing.
Thx for the reminder, and my appologies for not having it up at lanfest... please people, comment here if you have this game installed. I really hate to spend time on something that won't be used. If you will play this game and have it installed please post once to let me know how many we have.

i think this should be classified as "3D" and "true 3D" other wise by saying "2D" you are insenuating a flat game like a side scroller :S
most fps games can be considered 3D b/c they allow movement on all 3 axis (you can walk forward, strafe, and jump)
the difference here is that all previous fps games depended on an engine which only accounted for rotation on 1 axis (you can turn side to side, but you can not lay flat w/o special toggling positions)
and ofcourse we can look in all 3 axis
so in summary, shattered horizon is revolutionary in that it allows player rotation on more than just the z-axis (it doesn't introduce new dimensions xD)

I consider other FPS 2D on the concept that yes there are changes in the Y axis but it is assisted movement, as in you are walking on something and jumping is followed by falling. Yes there is a Y axis that is controllable but the movements of the player are designed around a x and z world. I would say side scrollers are 1D due to movement only on the X, relative to their position forward not your perspective.
I am saying this more on sustainable gimbal/axis movement, controllable acceleration based on vectors that are no completely tied to environmental variables...gravity.
Yes this is a bunch of Ps and Qs but I think it is something that deserves a much more scientific look as to why some people say the game sucks after 10 minutes and never play again despite still learning how to move and fire correctly. Personally I look at how they play and react during matches and the one thing they seem having trouble with is dealing with engagement on all three planes at once. The control of vector movement along with yaw and pitch seems to disorient people a lot from the standard rules of gravity. Even comparing this to flight games is slightly off because generally there is still a horizon present which in SH there is none, unless you keep track of the Earth or Sun which helps a lot. Even vets you seem them and their teams keeping a specific orientation in maps instead of enter acting with the maps without the concept of up or down in play. But whatever if you really want to debate the finner semantics of the execution of the game play or human perception to a real spatial environment I will be at the LAN.
